When the badge displays
Installing widget.js is not enough. The script hides the seal until badge_visible is true for that domain.
Installed but invisible
This is expected. widget.js loads, asks the live-badge API for the domain, and draws nothing when badge_visible is false. That prevents a decorative seal on a site that still fails consent or has no AI Policy.
Fix it in this order
- Confirm the badge ID and domain match the Active certification.
- Publish an AI Policy and link it on the site. SiteTrust can generate this in the dashboard.
- Publish Privacy Policy and Terms, linked without a login wall.
- Install SiteTrust Consent correctly and prove Accept / Decline.
- Run Site Audit A, B, and C in the Client Trust Center and get PASS on the tracker gate.
- Hard-refresh the live site. CDN caches can keep an old empty badge for a few minutes.
Domain mismatch
www and bare domain should both be listed if you serve both. Add the extra host under allowed domains if the certificate was issued for one and you installed on the other. The live API normalizes www and paths, but a completely different host will not match.
You can still show a certificate URL
The certificate page for a certified domain can exist even while the embed is hidden. The embed is the public seal. Do not screenshot an old badge PNG and paste it as a substitute.
