SiteTrust Insurance

As the market walks away from AI risk, accountability is the way back in.

Standard insurers are pulling back from AI exposure, opening a coverage gap for companies using it. SiteTrust is building the path back through coverage grounded in the human accountability our certification verifies.

Jan 2026

Standard policy forms begin excluding generative-AI exposure from liability.

9 in 10

Corporate insurance buyers want dedicated coverage for AI risk, with third-party liability near the top.

~$4.8B

Projected annual AI-insurance premiums by 2032, a market growing near 80% a year.

The shift

The standard market chose to step back rather than price the unknown.

Effective January 1, 2026, the policy forms the broad commercial market runs on began allowing carriers to remove generative-AI exposure from general liability. Professional liability carriers are following. The retreat is rational: underwriters price against loss history, and a technology that changes monthly doesn't offer much of one.

But every exclusion the market writes is a gap opening exactly where AI-using companies live. Businesses are being told, in plain policy language, that the AI-driven harm they worry about most is no longer covered, and that they have nowhere obvious to turn.

Disclosure

Disclosure

Certified companies tell end users how AI is used. That lowers both the number of claims and the cost of the ones that come. The disclosure record becomes the defense file.

Oversight

Human oversight

A governance framework keeps a person accountable for how AI-influenced decisions are made and reviewed. This creates a definable interest a policy can attach to.

Verification

Ongoing verification

Independent, annually renewed certification gives a carrier a live signal that the risk it priced at the start is still the risk on the books.

The exclusion defines the product that now needs to exist.

Where the market sees an unpriceable unknown, SiteTrust sees a risk that becomes legible the moment a human stands behind it.

The principle

Accountable AI is insurable AI.

The work of being accountable for AI — disclosure, human oversight, independent verification, is the same work that makes AI insurable. Trust and insurability aren't two projects. They're one.
